Client Story December 2014

HOPE AND A FUTURE

Every woman who is pregnant has the same options available for her pregnancy. She can choose to carry the pregnancy and parent the child, carry the pregnancy and make an adoption plan, or she can choose to have an abortion. Every client that comes to us is educated on these three options. When Lisa came to see us, she came knowing that abortion was not an option that she wanted to consider for herself. However, she was facing difficult circumstances that made the prospect of pregnancy hard to consider. She was young and had hopes for her own future that would be complicated by having a baby. When asked about her support system, she divulged that the father of the baby was probably her ex-boyfriend, Fred. Fred was encouraging her to have an abortion like some of his previous girlfriends had done, and he was even offering to pay for the abortion. Lisa was facing some hard decisions.

When Lisa had her ultrasound, it was discovered that she was not as far along as she thought she was and therefore Fred could not have been the father of the baby. Knowing this allowed Lisa to consider what she wanted without the influence of Fred. Lisa shared that she was considering the option her own birth parents had chosen. Her own birth parents had chosen to give her life and then allowed another family to raise her for them. Today, Lisa is blessed to be able to have 2 sets of parents involved in her life – her birth parents and her adoptive parents. Lisa came to the conclusion that choosing adoption for her child as well could be a great option. Not only would her child have the opportunity to be loved and cared for unconditionally under the provision of a carefully selected adoptive family, but Lisa herself could continue pursuing the hopes of her future. What a selfless and loving choice Lisa has made for her child!

For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord, ” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “
