First Baptist Krum – “They are Precious in His Sight”

From Ed Gatlin, Lead Pastor:

This past Sunday (January 19, 2014), at First Baptist Church, we dedicated our entire service to the Sanctity of Life.  image 096 webWe heard a report of the incredible life saving work of Woman To Woman Pregnancy Resource Center in Denton.  Most of the clients to visit the Center are considering abortion.  When they encounter the love, compassion and truth from the counselor a great majority choose to not terminate the pregnancy.  They are given the resources to make an informed decision.  They are also given the resources to bring the baby to full term.  The Center is a ray of sunshine in the dark world of someone making a life altering decision.  As a church, we are thrilled that we get to partner with such an organization.

We were also reminded of Twice As Nice Resale Shop.  This shop exists to financially support Woman to Woman.  It is located at the corner of Oak and Bell Avenue and is a great place to shop.  It’s also a place to donate new and gently used items.  Woman to Woman and Twice As Nice both have volunteer opportunities.  I encourage you to support them with your time, your donations, as well as your monetary gifts.  You will be blessed.  You may reach Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center at: 940-383-4494 and Twice As Nice Resale Shop at: 940-383-8267.
The remainder of the service was given to the sermon entitled “They Are Precious In His Sight”.  The life of the unborn is sacred for the following reasons:
IT IS SACRED BECAUSE GOD CREATED IT.  Jeremiah 1:5, God says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”.
IT IS SACRED REGARDLESS OF IT’S CONDITION.  The abortion rate for those deemed to be imperfect is very high.  Jesus placed great value on the lame, the blind and those with other birth defects.
IT IS SACRED BECAUSE OF IT’S ETERNAL NATURE.  Since life begins at conception every person conceived will spend eternity somewhere.
Our goal as a church is to do all we can to see that the unborn have an opportunity to be born and to see that the living have an opportunity to be born again.  The sermon in its entirety is on our website: NEWLIFEFBC.COM

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

It’s January 19, 2014.

In 1983, President Reagan instituted Sanctity of Human Life Sunday to celebrate the intrinsic value and dignity of all human life. It falls on the Sunday closest to January 22, the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973.

Psalm 82:3-4 tells God’s people to “defend the weak and the fatherless”. We can …and we do. Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center is Denton’s evangelical ministry that empowers women to choose life for their unborn children and delivers the gospel to those who find themselves at one of life’s crossroads.

What can you do? Partner with Woman to Woman. Volunteer. Donate. Help with fundraisers. Pray. The next Volunteer Information Meeting is Saturday, January 25th, 11am at Twice as Nice Resale.

Here’s a brief Pro-Life Primer from Scott Klusendorf: “How to Defend Your Pro-Life Views in 5 Minutes or Less” If it intrigues you, contact us for more information about local Pro-Life Training.

Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.       Psalm 82:3-4

Thank you for another wonderful year of life.

Occasional and temporary service helps many participate in the ministry

We realize there are many women – and men – with a heart for serving through the ministry, but without the abilityfoprc-master_event support team 1 to commit to a regular volunteering schedule.

Areas of involvement include providing food items for events, helping to hostess various events for clients, volunteers or staff. There are even opportunities for “heavy lifting”, moving large items or making small repairs.

When you join the Event Support Team, you receive an e-mail each time an event needs some volunteer help with a list of items needed or things that need to be done. You decide if you can provide one of the items for any particular event.
